Halo infinite story expansions12/30/2023 ![]() It felt that perhaps we’d get a different kind of episodic campaign with how they described it, believed it to be potentially the first live service campaign. They didn’t lie about what would come, but it did feel misleading, especially with where Infinite ended in the story. We heard stories that the game was designed to be supported and expanded for 10 years following the launch, perhaps with large patches of updates, but that was all in mp initiatives. I’ll admit that mp is better now and I do hop in and do play a couple matches every now and then and have a lot of fun, but it’s a random thing rather than anything consistent, at least with people I know.Īlso, rumor is that there was never any single player expansions planned either. You know there’s issues when pretty much everyone in my multiplayer circle dropped Infinite for Vanguard, which pretty much everyone agreed was a middling to weak effort for CoD (though not as bad as Cold War), but with better progression and matchmaking than Infinite. At least it did for anyone that I was playing with, as well as myself. The whole progression system and playlist system arguably destroyed any momentum the game had to start. They made poor decisions with it from the start, unfortunately, and that derailed where Infinite could’ve gone. They could’ve launched a better multiplayer at launch. Mon 16th Oct See, I sort of disagree about that. What we do know is that 343 is here to stay when it comes to Halo development, with the long-term franchise developer confirming it will make "epic stories, multiplayer, and more of what makes Halo great" in the future. We must stress that none of these reports have been confirmed in any official way, and today's rumour is exactly that - a vague answer about potential details on the next Halo campaign. About a year ago we first heard rumours of the franchise moving over to the popular game engine followed up by further reporting in January 2023 by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier. This isn't the first we've heard about Halo moving over from its current proprietary 'Slipspace' engine to Epic's Unreal technology. It is part of the restructure that is building the next generation of Halo on Unreal," What I can say, what I know anyway, is that yes, they do have a team working on the next Halo campaign. "Do I have any info on the Halo campaign? The short answer is nothing specific. Halo Infinite’s multiplayer portion is currently a free-to-play download on Steam and the Microsoft Store.Subscribe to Pure Xbox on YouTube Watch on YouTube Season 3’s other additions include a new 100-tier battle pass (of course) the single-shot M392 Bandit rifle, and the Shroud Screen equipment which works like a smoke grenade that's been stuck in a bubble.ģ43 have been struggling with layoffs and turbulent dev cycles, but hopefully they can keep Season 3’s momentum going with shorter seasons in 2023. Who’s to say if this will change in Echoes Within? The trailer certainly teases some big revelations, and a change in location is definitely welcomed. Infinite’s multiplayer has been trying to tell a story since launch, but it’s amounted to nothing more than awkward cutscenes so far. The most exciting Forged map in the trailer is Art’s Room, a normal bedroom where spartans are shrunk down to the size of toys and battle it out across a work desk, an Xbox mini fridge, and a skateboard. Forge mode has been Infinite’s saving grace these past few months, and it’s blessed us with fan-made recreations of Mario Kart’s DK Mountain, Whiterun City from Skyrim, and some other generally wild stuff. The trailer for Echoes Within also highlights the game’s Community Collection Playlist, allowing fans to play matchmade games on Forged maps. They’re all gorgeous and I’m glad to see Halo’s whacky alien vehicles in some bigger Arena maps. There’s Cliffhanger - the grassy rocklands - and then there’s Chasm - the blue tinted Forerunner interior. Fans have been craving environments outside of Infinite’s Seattle-inspired mountain forests, so it’s nice to see a red hot desert enter the fray (snow next, please.) The two other Arena maps remix Infinite’s standard aesthetics. The new big team battle map Oasis is the perfect addition to Infinite’s roster. Echoes Within is undeniably the biggest update to Infinite since launch, as it’s adding new maps, weapons and equipment, and expanding the multiplayer’s narrative - which has been a series of perpetual teases so far. Halo Infinite has been in an extended slump since its second season began 10-months ago, but 343 Industries are hoping to turn things around when Season 3: Echoes Within starts next week on March 7th.
